About

Ashtanga Yoga Centre of Toronto is dedicated to teaching in the tradition of Mysore, India. AYCT opened in 2008 to provide a friendly home for Toronto’s Ashtanga Community, and now hosts one of the world’s largest Mysore program, led by Level 2 Authorized teacher David Robson and Jelena Vesić.

What is Ashtanga?

Ashtanga Yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressively more challenging series of postures. This process produces intense internal heat and a purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. It is a vigorous moving meditation that helps improve focus and relieve anxiety in day-to-day life.

At AYCT, we believe that the restorative power and efficacy of the Ashtanga Yoga system is in the consistency of the practice and the steadiness of the teaching. We feel that rigour and physical challenge are not incompatible with an intelligent and safe approach. We offer authentic Ashtanga classes that are open to all seekers and compassionate to the individual journey of the student.
